Visit Santa in the North Pole!
Considering we live in a real life snow globe, it’s no surprise that Alaska is also home to the one and only St. Nick. Winter is the perfect time to take a little trip up to North Pole near Fairbanks to get some extra Christmas spirit. Here are some tips on where to stay, what to do, and where to eat, if you make the trip up North.
There are lots of fun cabin and AirBnb experiences, be sure to plan in advance for the best spots. If you're looking for a budget friendly option, the lodging on either Ft. Wainwright or Eielson Air Force Base is a great option!
One of the most popular spots is Chena Hot Springs. With a purchase of a ticket you have access to the natural outdoor hot springs, hot tub and indoor pool. If your trip is focused on all things Christmas then head on over to Santa Claus House, make sure to check what hours Santa will be there so you don’t miss him. There's also the Fairbanks Children’s Museum if this will be a family trip. If you can’t make it before Christmas arrives, look into going up in February-March during the World Ice Carving Championships.
Last, and arguably most important, where should you eat? Despite being in the interior, there are a surprising amount of good restaurants to check out. Some of the most recommended are Pagoda, Food Factory, The Cookie Jar and North Pole Crepery.
Don’t let cold weather and icy roads stop you from attempting to make the trip. The roads are well traveled and with your normal snow tires you should be fine. Just like with any road trip, have a plan in case things don’t go like you thought. Having some water bottles, emergency blankets and a spare tire are a good idea for any Alaskan road trip.
Northern Star Home Group wishes you all Happy Holidays!
