New Years Plans? How about…
The 4th of July is the grand firework holiday, am I right? Not so much in the land of the midnight sun. We Alaskan’s take our opportunity to enjoy fireworks on New Year’s. The most popular spot is in downtown Anchorage at the Chinook Parking Lot on the corner of E Street and 3rd Avenue. There will be live music, and good time while you wait for the ball drop and the fireworks to blast off. The top level of the downtown parking garages are also a great place to wait for the fireworks. Just remember it’s pretty chilly and it can get busy so plan ahead, bring your hot cocoa.
If you’re looking for a fancy time, why not ring in the new year with a little staycation and head to Alyeska in Girdwood for the New Year’s Eve Gala, and fun night ski before their own fireworks display.
In the valley, Palmer Alehouse is having a unique Arctic Luau, a nonprofit event supporting the Mat-Su Animal Shelter. Time to whip out those grass skirts and coconut bras ladies. Palmer’s Omnivore restaurant caters to a variety of diets and has a stellar Prime Rib Dinner menu planned for their New Year’s Eve special.
We are looking forward to crushing new goals for the new year and we can’t wait to get it started with you!
