Complete your Alaska Bucket list before PCSing
If you are a part of the upcoming PCS cycle it’s crunch time for your Alaska bucket list. Now’s the time to make sure all those checkboxes are marked off before you leave. We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorites to make sure you don’t have any “I wish I would have…” before you go.
We’ve organized them into “Big Adventure” and “Little Adventure” categories. Big Adventure requires a little more time, planning and most likely money. Little Adventures can be done on a weekend with no plans, you can get up and go, depending on the season of course.
Big Adventure
Visit Katmai National Park and see the bears at Brooks Falls
Visit Southeast Alaska (Juneau, Ketichaikan)
Charter ocean fishing out of Homer or Seward
Cross into the Arctic Circle
Glacier Tour via helicopter or cruise
Ride Goldstar Service on the Alaska railroad
Little Adventure
Ride bikes along the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail
Kayak in Resurrection Bay
Hike in Hatcher Pass
Matanuska Glacier Tour
Visit Salty Dog Saloon in Homer
Salmon fishing on the Russian River or Copper River
Visit Denali National Park
Experience dog sledding
Eat outside at Everett’s Restaurant on Big Lake
Visit Chena Hot Springs in winter time
These ideas are just to get you thinking but of course everyone’s list is going to be unique and individual. We hope you have loved your time in the 49th state as much we love it here!
