Alaskan Fall Hiking Bucket List

Autumn brings out some of the best colors on the mountainside, and while it's pretty to observe from the road, it's even better to see up close! Do you know what this means? It's time to take a hike!
For avid outdoorsmen, hiking in Alaska can be done year round, but what better time than the fall when you have cool weather?
Before the snow starts to stick, we recommend checking out these 6 hikes around Anchorage:
Mount Baldy Peak: 2.6 miles, 2,559 ft elevation gain, rated hard
Rabbit Trail Lake: > 8.7 miles, 1,515 ft elevation gain, rated moderate
Little O'Malley Peak Trail: 4.5 miles, 1,466 ft elevation gain, rated hard
Abbot Loop: 1.6 miles, 88ft elevation gain, rated easy
McHugh Creek Trail: 8 miles, 2,365 ft elevation gain, rated moderate
Arctic Valley Bridge Loop: 0.9 miles, 157 ft elevation gain, rated easy
As always, remember to be prepared: research trail conditions, give yourself enough time, get weather and avalanche forecasts, dress for the conditions, pack an emergency first aid kit, and most importantly, watch your surroundings.
Happy trails!
