I came to real estate from nursing. Most agents don't. That detail changes everything about how I do this work. I'm Heather Jacobson. REALTOR®, SRES, founder/owner of Selling Charlotte +Co, a Charlotte real estate practice for senior moves and the families navigating them. When my husband and I bought our first home in 2014, the experience cracked open the idea of real estate as a career I could actually do. I was a full-time RN on the night shift with three little kids at home and I wanted to take my kids to Disneyland. The entrepreneurial promise of real estate sounded like the path. Be your own boss. Flexible hours. Unlimited income. I dove in, got my license, and built my practice while still working emergency room shifts at Providence Alaska Medical Center. Twelve years later I've held leadership roles at one of Alaska's largest Keller Williams offices (Productivity Coach 2021 to 2023, then Team Leader and CEO 2023 to 2025). I founded Jacobson Home Group LLC in 2016. I walked alongside families across Alaska through some of the biggest transitions of their lives. And most recently I moved cross-country to Charlotte to build the next chapter from the ground up. Selling Charlotte +Co exists for one reason. Families don't need another agent who is going to push them toward the fastest closing. They need someone who'll sit with them through the hardest decision they may ever make about a home. Someone who'll help them figure out what's actually right. My specialty is the Stay / Go / Wait framework for senior moves. Sometimes staying is the right answer. Sometimes going to the next chapter is the right answer. Sometimes building equity for another year and revisiting is the right answer. I refuse to tell you "now is the time to sell" when it's not. That's the line agents say when they're paid by the transaction. I'm paid by the trust I keep. The medical background matters more in this work than I expected it to. I sit with families through health-driven moves with a vocabulary most agents don't have. My promise: Clarity instead of pressure. Strategy instead of urgency. Compassion instead of euphemism. The right answer for your family, even when it's not the one that pays me. I serve Charlotte and Lake Norman. I still serve Alaska clients through my partnership with Selling Alaska +Co, long-standing relationships and regular visits back. Houses are easy. Families are the work. If any of this lands, I'd love to talk.
